This weekend we served a bottle of the Tangent 2007 Sauvignon Blanc from Edna Valley, CA with cheese appetizers and was rather disappointed. There was a citrusy nose with herbs along with an initial taste of pineapples and grassy clover followed up with an overbearing alcohol taste. We would pass on this wine the next time. Overpriced at $18.00 compared to the Twomey or Girard from the US and most of the New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs.
Follow-up: We gave this wine a second try and opened another bottle this past week. This bottle was better than the first as far as the overbearing alcohol. However, I still think it is overpriced and not as nice as many other sauvignon blancs on the market. This is still a pass.
